In a Sunday Truth Social post, President Donald Trump slammed the Biden-Harris Department of Justice (DOJ) for weaponizing the federal government after it filed a lawsuit against Virginia, accusing the state and Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin of violating the Quiet Period of the National Voter Registration Act.

The 45th president wrote, “One of the Greatest Examples of DOJ Weaponization is the fact that they are suing Virginia to put ALL of the Illegal Voters, which were fully exposed and removed by the important work of Governor Glenn Youngkin, back on the Voter Rolls. Obviously, this was done so that they can CHEAT on the Election. So sad! What has happened to our once Great Country?”

Youngkin released a statement making clear that his August 7 executive order did nothing more than require the enforcement of existing state law.

“With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Department of Justice is filing an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for appropriately enforcing a 2006 law signed by Democrat Tim Kaine that requires Virginia to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls – a process that starts with someone declaring themselves a non-citizen and then registering to vote,” Youngkin wrote.

He continued, “Virginians – and Americans – will see this for exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to attack the legitimacy of the elections in the Commonwealth, the very crucible of American Democracy. With the support of our Attorney General, we will defend these commonsense steps, that we are legally required to take, with every resource available to us.”

Youngkin concluded his statement, “Virginia’s election will be secure and fair, and I will not stand idly by as this politically motivated action tries to interfere in our elections, period.”

The Biden-Harris DOJ has sued multiple states for removing ineligible and deceased voters from their voter rolls, including Alabama, Arizona and Georgia. The suit against Alabama also accused the state of violating the Quiet Period after it began removing noncitizens from voter rolls.

After repeated requests for assistance from the Department of Homeland Security, the state discovered that 3,251 registered voters also had noncitizen identification numbers from the agency.

The DOJ filed the lawsuit shortly after Alabama took action to rectify the issue.
