President Donald Trump seized victory in the Golden State, flexing his strength among California Republican voters in Tuesday night’s GOP primary election.
Decision Desk HQ projected that Trump had won California almost immediately after the polls closed at 11:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday night. At 11:08 p.m. ET, he had captured 72 percent of the vote compared to former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s 23 percent, via their data.
Trump was the dominant and favored candidate to win the California primary ahead of Super Tuesday, cementing a solid lead over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. In a final poll from the University of Berkely/LA Times, Trump snagged a huge 60-point lead over Haley in California, where conservatives showed up in droves to make sure their favorite candidate took home another win.
Preceding his win in California, Trump took home wins in states like Virginia, North Carolina, Maine, Massachusetts, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
Preceding his win in California, he took the stage in Palm Beach, Florida, at his home, Mar-a-Lago, and noted that this was an “inspiring” set of victories.
“We’re going to make our country greater than ever before, and we’re going to do it quickly,” he promised.
