President Donald Trump is the frontrunner candidate in a potential 2024 presidential bid, according to a new Morning Consult and Politico poll, where he garnered 51 percent of voters’ approval. The poll, which surveyed 2,004 registered voters, was conducted between June 24-26.
Morning Consult’s poll asked, “If the 2024 Republican presidential primary were being held today, for whom would you vote?” 51 percent of those surveyed indicated “Donald Trump,” while only eight percent said Mike Pence.
The only other potential candidate in the survey who garnered double-digit support was Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), coming in second with 23 percent.
Respondents were also asked who they trusted more to handle the issues plaguing the U.S. economy. 46 percent trusted Republicans while 35 percent trusted Democrats.
This is not the first time that the 45th president has polled remarkably higher than any other candidate for a hypothetical 2024 presidential bid. Trump dominated a brand-new Golden TIPP poll in June, blowing away any possible competition with 55 percent of Republican voter support.
In the Golden TIPP poll, DeSantis also netted a healthy 12 percent of voter support, but no potential contender has been able to come close to Trump’s unflinching popularity with Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents.
In fact, Trump’s popularity has continued to increase with GOP voters as the political witch hunts and smear campaigns have raged in the mainstream media, especially as the dramatic Jan. 6 hearings have relentlessly aired on television.
“The lies and fabricated stories being told to the partisan Highly Unselect Committee, not only by the phony social climber who got caught yesterday [Cassidy Hutchinson], but by many others, are a disgrace to our, in serious decline, Nation,” President Trump stated in a post shared to Truth Social.
He added, “No cross examination, no real Republicans, no lawyers, NO NOTHING. Fake stories and an all Fake Narrative being produced, with ZERO pushback allowed. Unselects should be forced to disband. WITCH HUNT!”
