President Trump defended the Iowa ethanol industry on Sunday, slamming Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., for being an enemy of ethanol production.

In remarks delivered in Ottumwa, Trump reminded Americans that he strongly supported the ethanol industry and American agriculture as president, saying, “I fought for ethanol like no president in history.”

He added, “Ron DeSanctus has spent his entire time in Congress angrily railing against ethanol and fighting to terminate the renewable fuel standard.”

Trump accused DeSantis of calling the termination of ethanol and “no brainer” and highlighted to the audience, “Remember one thing about a politician – whatever they say first, that’s where they go.”

The president focused on “common sense” solutions for the American farmer in Iowa on Sunday, relentlessly taking several swings at his GOP presidential opponent in the Hawkeye State.

“Ron DeSanctus is a sworn enemy of the American farmer,” Trump also declared unflinchingly.

Trump continued, “Iowa farmers need to know all of this…he’ll stab you in the back just like he stabbed MAGA in the back.”

The 45th president vowed to eliminate Joe Biden’s electric vehicle mandate on “day one” of a prospective 2025 Trump administration.

In Iowa, President Trump is strongly leading in the GOP presidential primary polls. In a new CBS Republican caucus poll in Iowa, President Trump is leading by a whopping 30 points ahead of Gov. DeSantis.
