President Donald Trump announced that he will give a major press conference after shots were fired at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“Law Enforcement has requested that we leave the premises, consistent with protocol, which we will do, immediately,” he wrote in a post to Truth Social late Saturday night.
He continued, “I will be giving a press conference in 30 minutes from the White House Press Briefing Room. The First Lady, plus the Vice President, and all Cabinet members, are in perfect condition. We will be speaking to you in a half an hour. I have spoken with all the representatives in charge of the event, and we will be rescheduling within 30 days.”
The president’s conference comes following a shooting occurred at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner, attended by Washington officials including the president and first lady, vice president and second lady, cabinet officials, and members of Congress.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were rushed off stage by the Secret Service after a shooting reportedly transpired at the dinner.
Details regarding the shooter’s identity, or where the shooting took place at the venue, are unknown at this time. Trump confirmed that the alleged shooter was apprehended.
