President Donald Trump plans to kickstart his 2024 presidential campaign in the swing state of South Carolina in late January, his advisors have reportedly told the media.
The event has been characterized as an “intimate” gathering rather than the massive rallies that the 45th president typically holds. The function is Trump’s first public campaign event since announcing his bid for the White House at his Mar-a-Lago home in November 2022. There, Trump vowed to restore America to a “great” and “glorious” country once again to which the packed room erupted into celebration.
“Promises made, promises kept,” is the tagline when referring to the accomplishments of President Trump during his four years in the Oval Office. Now, the real estate mogul is taking the first step to delivering on his campaign speech by scheduling a symbolic visit to the Palmetto State.
Historically, South Carolina has been a magnet of success for President Trump. In 2016, the political outsider defeated five other candidates to win the state’s Republican primary election. Additionally, following Trump’s blowout victory, Jeb Bush suspended his presidential campaign. Furthermore, Joe Biden lost to Donald Trump in the 2020 general election in South Carolina by almost 12 points.
So far, no other Republicans have thrown their hat into the ring to take on the leader of the Grand Old Party. However, much speculation surrounds two South Carolina natives that might attempt the uphill battle. Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley are rumored to be 2024 candidates. Nevertheless, Susie Wiles, a top adviser to President Trump, said “there’s no data that I’ve seen that suggests otherwise,” when asked about Trump being the most favorited candidate to win South Carolina’s primary.
As of now, there is no specific date or time for when the 2024 campaign event will take place.
