President Donald Trump is urging U.S. leadership to be “smart” about the Nord Stream pipeline situation and encouraging world leaders to negotiate a deal “NOW.”

The Nord Stream pipeline situation has been further complicated due to reports that indicate possible “sabotage” of the two natural gas pipelines that transport gas from Russia to Germany.

Trump stated, “U.S. ‘Leadership’ should remain ‘cool, calm, and dry’ on the SABOTAGE of the Nord Stream Pipelines. This is a big event that should not entail a big solution, at least not yet.” He explained, “The Russia/Ukraine catastrophe should NEVER have happened, and would definitely not have happened if I were President.”

However, the 45th president warned the United States against complicating matters by poorly handling the situation in Europe. “Be strategic, be smart (brilliant!), get a negotiated deal done NOW,” he said. “Both sides need and want it.”

With oil and gas prices skyrocketing this year, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and growing tension between Russia and NATO countries, Trump said, “The entire World is at stake.” He also offered to head a group of negotiators to solve the current crisis and bring about a peaceful solution in an effort to prevent further escalation of the matter.

The Associated Press reported that Denmark believes the gas leaks on the Nord Stream pipelines were “deliberate actions.”

“It is the authorities’ clear assessment that these are deliberate actions -– not accidents,” Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said, according to the outlet.

During his presidency, Trump warned Germany against relying on Russian energy. He stated, “I think it’s very sad when Germany makes a massive oil and gas deal with Russia, where you’re supposed to be guarding against Russia, and Germany goes out and pays billions and billions of dollars a year to Russia.”

The 45th president argued that NATO countries should not rely on adversaries like Russia for energy. Instead, he encouraged them to seek energy independence. Trump also championed policies that led to American energy independence.

In a recent interview on Newsmax, Trump said, “We were right about almost everything, that I can tell you, that was a terrible thing Germany, how foolish they were to do that.”
