On Sunday, President Trump attended the Miami Grand Prix, where a young and fiery 24-year-old Lando Norris brought home the win for the McLaren team, shortly after the president met with McLaren CEO Zak Brown in the garage.
Pictures and videos online captured by the Trump team gave Americans a glimpse of the president’s day at the track, where he was greeted everywhere with cheers and chants of “USA!”
The president was also spotted speaking with Brown and Formula One CEO Stefano Domenicali in the garage before the race kicked off.
According to the Daily Mail, Lando Norris’s win on Sunday was his first Formula One victory. He told the outlet that the president spoke with him after the race, describing it as “an honor.”
On Truth Social, Trump lauded the big win for Norris, sharing photos of his race day, including a picture of the bright orange Formula One racecar that catapulted the young driver to victory on Sunday.
Trump wrote, “It was a great honor to see my friends at McLaren win the big Miami Formula 1 race. It was the car I visited before the race, and Endorsed—that’s what we need for our Country—WINNING!”
He shared a photo of the McLaren race car early on Monday morning, commenting, “Picture taken before the race started. This is the car we saw. This is the car that WON!”
Via Daily Mail, Norris said of the 45th president, “Donald is someone that you’ve got to have a lot of respect for in many ways and for anyone like that who acknowledge what you can go out and do, and the work ethic that goes into things, you’ve got to be thankful for that.”
