The elder sister of President Donald Trump, Maryanne Trump Barry, has passed away at the age of 86, multiple outlets have reported.
According to The Post Millennial (TPM), Ms. Barry, a retired federal judge nominated by President Ronald Reagan, was found at 4 a.m. in New York in her Upper East Side apartment on Monday.
Ms. Barry’s death was preceded by the passing of her younger brother, Robert Trump, who died in 2020 during President Trump’s term in the White House. In 2022, President Trump’s first wife, Ivana, also passed away.
Maryanne Barry Trump was appointed in 1983 by President Reagan as a judge in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, and later went on to become a federal appeals court judge, Reuters reported.
While President Trump had not yet made a public comment on the passing of his elder sister on Monday afternoon, social media was filled with sympathetic comments from supporters and friends of the president.
Trump ally Roger Stone called Maryanne a “great woman and respected Federal Judge.” Combat veteran and author Sean Parnell wrote on X, “Prayers up for the entire Trump Family right now.”
Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec commented, “Have to imagine [Trump] losing his sister today is rough[.]”
Via TPM, Trump-Barry credited Donald for aiding her in her career, stating that there was “no question” that her younger brother had helped her get nominated by President Reagan to the federal bench.
She retired in 2019. According to reports, she was eldest of all of the Trump siblings, of whom there are five.
