‘VENEZUELA ON STEROIDS’: Trump warns what will happen if we don’t ‘straighten this country out’

President Donald Trump dug deep in an exclusive interview with Americano Media, sharing his thoughts on rising crime amid a historic midterm season, as well as Hispanic voters’ view of the FBI’s shocking raid on his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago, in August.

“Look at what’s happened to San Francisco generally,” Trump said, speaking to the uptick in violent crime in American cities. “Look at what’s happening in Chicago. It was far worse than Afghanistan, okay? We have Chicago. When I had Afghanistan…18 months we went without one soldier being shot. And you look at what happens in Chicago in one weekend – last weekend was brutal; it was like a warzone.”

Per Breitbart, 35 people were reportedly shot over the last weekend of October, with five of them succumbing to fatal wounds.

Trump spoke to the Hispanic Leadership Conference in early October.

He added, “We have to give the police back their authority and their power and their respect. Because this country’s out of control…they’re Democrat-run cities, almost exclusively.”

Americano’s interview also touched on the FBI’s unprecedented raid on his home this past summer, posing the question of whether the intrusion into the president’s private residence had caused Hispanic Americans to distrust the once-respected institutions of justice in the U.S.

Trump responded, “I do, Hispanics understand it because many of them have been in countries – you take a look at Venezuela, go back 20 years, it was, you know – very prosperous, rich country, it was the richest country in Latin America…everything was pretty good. And now you look, they don’t have water, they don’t have food, they don’t have anything. They have a dictatorship.”

In early October, Trump delivered remarks to the Hispanic Leadership Conference in Miami, Florida. “Over four incredible years, we did more for the Hispanic community than any administration in the history of our country,” Trump told the audience.

In his interview with Americano, Trump posited that he had warned American voters that if “we don’t straighten this country out” you’re “going to end up – you are literally going to end up with a Venezuela on steroids.”

The president also noted that Hispanics have recognized that this kind of trespass on personal rights was similar to “what happened from where they came, and they don’t want that and it’s one of the reasons they like me.”
