The Biden administration faces a major setback after Saudi Arabia rejected its pleas Thursday to lower the price of oil before the November midterm elections.
According to Breitbart, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman slashed oil production despite Biden’s demands and attempts at diplomacy throughout the summer.
Joe Biden has repeatedly urged other countries to increase oil production in hopes of lowering fuel prices that are driving Americans away from the Democrat Party.
However, other nations are not answering his calls. Earlier this month, OPEC+ announced it would significantly reduce oil production. The Biden administration responded by insulting OPEC+ and Saudi Arabia by claiming they were supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
According to Newsweek, the Saudi Foreign Ministry responded Thursday to the Biden administration’s accusations, stating, “The government of the kingdom clarified through its continuous consultation with the U.S. administration that all economic analyses indicate that postponing the OPEC+ decision for a month, according to what has been suggested, would have had negative economic consequences.”
President Donald Trump was dragged through an impeachment process based on now-debunked quid pro quo accusations that he had threatened to withhold aid from Ukraine. However, Joe Biden has not been held to the same standard despite reports indicating he initiated a quid pro quo with Saudi Arabia to lower oil prices before the midterm elections.
According to Fox News, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi indicated to Jesse Watters that Biden’s threat to impose costs on Saudi Arabia for reducing oil production amounts to quid pro quo.
“I think it’s a million times worse when you attempt to leverage the power of the presidency over a foreign government to achieve an outcome for your political benefit,” Bondi told Fox News.
The question now remains whether the Biden administration will be investigated for these reports or whether the Democrats will continue to be shielded by mainstream media.
In any case, Saudi Arabia’s oil production announcement will likely have a negative impact on the American people who are already struggling with record inflation and gas prices.
Recently, Trump gave a grim forecast for gasoline prices following the midterm elections. “When the election is over, gasoline will go through the roof,” he said. “And so will your heating bills, so will your electric bills.”
