The ironclad tyranny of the Golden State was broken this week amid news that California would be scrapping its plans to force school-aged children in grades K-12 to take the Covid vaccine.
While there has been no official announcement from the California Department of Public Health on rolling back the push for mandating the Covid shot for kids, EdSource reported that officials told them that the state’s termination of the pandemic-related state of emergency on Feb. 28 would mark the end of the Covid shot agenda in public schools.
Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., also heralded the news on Twitter this week, smacking down Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom’s radical agenda. “California’s COVID vaccine mandate for K-12 students is being withdrawn, having never taken effect,” he wrote. “To all the parents who joined together and fought back: We won. To Gavin Newsom: You lost.”
According to EdSource, Gov. Newsom announced 15 months ago that California would proudly be the first state to mandate the Covid shot for schoolchildren. Then-state Sen. Richard Pan (D) had also put forth legislation mandating the shot, but not before placing the bill on hold in the wake of tremendous pushback from California parents.
“Let Them Breathe,” a pro-medical choice advocation organization founded by Sharon McKeeman, remarked on Twitter of California’s meek and quiet termination of their push to mandate the vaccines: “Leave it to CA to govern via ‘unofficial official statements.’ Newsom let’s end this nonsense with an announcement! At least they acknowledged that the way to amend v* requirements is through the legislature not these clown work antics.”
California has warred with Covid-related tyranny since the onset of the pandemic in 2020. In 2022, California’s extremely controversial AB 1993 was put on hold after pushback from public safety unions, per RSBN.
The bill would have required workers and independent contractors in California to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
