In a new national poll of the 2024 GOP primary, President Donald Trump is the only candidate who earned double-digit support, leaving his primary opponents in the distant dust.

According to data from an Emerson College poll conducted between Oct. 16-17, President Trump is leading the field of presidential candidates in the Republican primary race, holding 59 percent of the vote.

Runner-up and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley earned eight percent of support, illustrating Trump’s massive 51-point lead over the second-place candidate.

In this poll, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., whose 2024 presidential bid has failed to gain any traction over the summer and is looking shaky headed into the Iowa caucuses in just a few weeks, tied with Haley for eight percent.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie won just four percent of GOP voter support, former Vice President Mike Pence earned three percent, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy also tied with Pence at three percent.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) each earned one percent of support, respectively.

In a general election, Trump also leads Biden by two points nationwide in a head-to-head matchup, based on their data. However, as reported by RSBN, Trump led Biden by a whopping ten points in a recent poll from Premise Data, suggesting that his national lead heading into the 2024 general election could be historic.

Among Independent voters, Trump is also beating Biden in most mainstream polls. In a new average compilation from Interactive Polls, Trump was eclipsing Biden among Independents in polls for Fox News, NPR/Marist, CBS News, Center for Politics (UVA), and ABC/Washington Post.

According to data from Morning Consult/Bloomberg (Oct. 5-10), Trump is also leading Biden in five of seven swing states as the election looms closer.
