President Donald Trump has named several impressive people for key cabinet roles in his next administration. One that has surprised most pundits is Pete Hegseth’s selection as Defense Secretary.
Trump made it known throughout his 2024 campaign rallies that he was tired of wokeness impacting the United States military. Likewise, Trump constantly compared our military readiness to that of China and Russia and explained there was a significant gap.
During his first term as president, Trump rallied behind the American troops and sought to instill patriotism within the military ranks.
Hegseth is ideologically very similar to Trump and resembles a patriotic American who served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. His military career includes serving as a major, a position of respectable high standing.
History has proven that when militaries successfully embrace nationalism (when allowed to) they tend to unite in patriotism. Hegseth, like Donald Trump, will not apologize for the nation’s past but will reaffirm that the U.S. is the greatest country ever created in the history of the world.
Protecting and preserving America’s legacy of freedom and hope is essential for passing it on to future generations.
Under Hegseth, the military will operate with a renewed focus on national pride and unyielding devotion to American values.
Clearly, with Hegseth, patriotism will re-enter the teachings of American soldiers, directly combating the wokeness so many Americans have been worried about in recent years.
Politics should never enter the military nor influence ideology. Regardless of political identification as a Republican or Democrat, all Americans should be patriots.
Unsurprisingly, Hegseth has been attacked for his lack of experience and even his Christian background. In a peculiar way, Christian patriots often are the most conservative voices in American history. Extreme liberalism has attempted to remove the faith from any connection to patriotism.
In this regard, Hegseth resembles the original patriots of the Revolution, unashamed of his patriotism and faith.
The selection of Pete Hegseth is perhaps the most impactful and telling appointment made thus far. It signals that patriotism will not only survive but continue in the military ranks for the next four years. Our hope is that the changes that will inevitably be made to training, procedures, and policies will improve the military’s core mission and rededicate it to the ideals that have made this nation great, focused on the country’s original founding.
Looking ahead, we need to go back to Hegseth’s ideas and build a military that puts duty, honor, and the legacy of our nation first. The upcoming changes are a chance to rebuild our military to its former glory, and it is every American’s responsibility to ensure freedom, courage, and patriotism are the foundation of our armed forces.
