The Trump campaign announces a ‘Merry Christmas’ rally in Michigan, a key swing state in 2020, will take place in Battle Creek at the Kellogg Arena.
The president’s campaign for reelection made the announcement on Thursday, saying the rally will take place on December 18.
The campaign’s national press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, weighed in on the announcement saying, “Michigan is booming thanks to President Trump and jobs are coming back to the state. Since President Trump’s election, Michigan has added 75,000 new jobs.”
McEnany continued, “President Trump is delivering on his promises, and he looks forward to celebrating those successes with the great men and women of Michigan this Christmas season.”
The arena accommodates around 6,200 people, but this does not account for standing room.
The Trump campaign’s announcement comes just one day after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked Democrats to proceed with drafting articles of impeachment.
In her dramatic, yet brief announcement, Pelosi slammed the president for what she dubbed as corruption and abuse of power.
Pelosi continued, “Sadly, but with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our founders and a heart full of love for America, today I am asking our chairmen to proceed with articles of impeachment.”
The White House blasted Pelosi’s impeachment announcement, saying both her and the Democrats “should be ashamed.”
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham made those remarks via twitter on Thursday, just minutes after Pelosi gave the lower chamber the green light to proceed with articles of impeachment.
Grisham continued, “President Trump has done nothing but lead our country – resulting in a booming economy, more jobs & a stronger military, to name just a few of his major accomplishments.”
Both the press secretary and the president have made it clear they look forward to having a fair trial in the Senate.
