President Donald Trump announced on Monday night that Vice President Kamala Harris has dropped from their presidential debate scheduled for Sept. 4.
The Fox News debate will now be televised as a town hall with anchor Sean Hannity in Pennsylvania.
“Comrade Kamala Harris has just informed us that she will NOT do the FoxNews Debate on September 4th,” Trump wrote.
“I am not surprised by this development because I feel that she knows it is very difficult, at best, for her to defend her record setting Flip-Flopping on absolutely everything she once believed in, including her statements that THERE WILL BE NO FRACKING IN PENNSYLVANIA and her HORRIBLE Performance on the Border, our “Border Czar,” where millions of criminals and people from mental institutions and terrorists, have been allowed to pour into our Country, totally unchecked and unvetted. It’s called, and she LOVES IT, an OPEN BORDER!!!” he added.
Details concerning the town hall were not specified, but Trump did reveal the host and state where the event will be held.
“Rather than the debate on September 4th, I have agreed to do a Tele-Town Hall, anchored by Sean Hannity, for Fox. It will take place in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – Details to follow!” he concluded.
The announcement came just two hours after Trump blasted Harris over concerns that her leadership would bankrupt the country as president.
“Kamala Harris can’t answer how she’d pay for ANY of her new liberal spending schemes that will BANKRUPT our country!” he posted, including a list of bullet points of concerns.
“This is why it’s so important to VOTE TRUMP to stop the reckless spending!” he stated.
Trump also included a CNN video featuring Harris responding to a journalist’s question about her economic plans.
The latest development about the presidential debates follows the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The Trump campaign released a statement late Monday responding to accusations against Trump’s record.
“Democrat after Democrat is lying about President Trump’s manufacturing record. President Trump presided over a manufacturing boom, delivered for American autoworkers and ended the disastrous NAFTA trade deal, replacing it with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement,” the campaign statement wrote.
“Kamala Harris opposed the USMCA and American autoworkers. The Associated Press noted in 2023 that since its enactment ‘vehicle and parts manufacturers have actually added nearly 90,000 jobs,’” it concluded.
