The reactions from mainstream media outlets expressed panic over the left’s hopes of remaining in power after the 2024 presidential election as President Donald Trump dominated in a bold presentation against President Joe Biden.
Various pundits quickly criticized Biden’s responses, with over two-thirds of respondents to a CNN poll agreeing that Trump won the debate.
“This has been, quite frankly, a car accident in slow motion,” CNN’s Chris Wallace shared following the debate.
“There is a deep, a wide, and a very aggressive panic in the Democrat Party,” CNN’s John King added.
Other mainstream outlets also admitted major concerns following Biden’s lackluster debate performance.
“There is no question — this is NOT the night that the Biden campaign wanted or needed,” ABC’s Mary Bruce stated during the network’s post-debate analysis.
MSNBC’s Joy Reid also expressed concerns from Democrats following the presidential debate.
“The universal reaction [from Democrats] was somewhere approaching panic,” she stated.
In a statement following the debate, the Trump campaign added its own reflection on Biden’s efforts.
“We knew Crooked Joe Biden would humiliate himself at tonight’s debate,” a statement read. “Nobody knew it’d be THIS BAD.”
A separate statement from the Trump campaign added further details supporting the 45th president’s dominant debate performance.
“Tonight President Trump delivered the greatest debate performance and victory in history to the largest voter audience in history, making clear exactly how he will improve the lives of every American,” Trump campaign spokespersons Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles wrote.
“Over and over President Trump highlighted common-sense plans to reduce inflation, bringing down the costs of groceries, housing, and gas, as well as his plans to bring back his successful first-term policies that kept our southern border secure and free from the wave of Biden Migrant Crimes currently sweeping our country,” they added.
The campaign statement also addressed Biden’s feeble debate efforts and argued against American voters supporting him for a second term.
“Joe Biden on the other hand showed exactly why he deserves to be fired. Despite taking a week-long vacation at Camp David to prepare for the debate, Biden was unable to defend his disastrous record on the economy and the border. Throughout the debate Biden lied, invented stories, and could not articulate a single plan to make things less expensive and keep our people safe, choosing instead to change the subject and dwell on the past,” the statement argued.
