President Trump emerges as latest fault line in entertainment culture clash

President Trump has emerged as the latest fault line in the entertainment culture clash, as RuPaul appears unwilling to publicly attack him. Their neutrality presents an alternative to overt anti-Trump activism in the entertainment industry.

Breitbart reported that drag queen and Drag Race star Peppermint called out RuPaul Charles for not publicly condemning President Trump for no actual reason. In an interview with Uncloseted Media on Tuesday, Peppermint had said, “It would be wonderful to see anyone on that show speak out against what is happening in our country with regards to the control over politics and policy and the intersection — of money with politics, especially as related to the Ellisons and the purchase of Paramount.”

Peppermint makes reference to media mogul David Ellison’s growing media holdings. CNN reported that in 2025, Ellison purchased Paramount, which owns MTV, where Drag Race currently airs. Breitbart reported earlier this year that HBO Max and CNN may soon be owned by Paramount as well.

The problem the drag queen has with Ellison is that he is a close supporter of President Trump. According to CNN, following the successful purchase of Paramount, President Trump completed the Ellisons, saying, “They’re friends of mine. They’re big supporters of mine. And they’ll do the right thing.”

Without any evidence, the drag queen went on to fear-monger about the Ellisons’ purchase of Paramount during the interview. They said, “Let’s just wait for them to get a script and start, like, you know, talking about how great President Trump is — whatever, I don’t know, like, that’s what I envision happening.”

The reality star claimed that the show would be used as a tool for fascism and to “parrot what they want to say,” and then made another far-reaching claim saying, “We’ll wake up one day and there’s going to be this weird messaging” coming out of the show where “suddenly they’re forcing us to say the Pledge of Allegiance, but with Donald Trump’s name in it.”

RuPaul’s lack of stance and choice to focus on entertainment highlights an alternative to anti-Trump rhetoric.
