RELEASE: RSBN’s YouTube Account Targeted by Sony Music Entertainment Over Foo Fighters Song Played at Trump Rally

AUBURN, Ala. — On Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, RSBN was notified by YouTube that our channel has received a copyright strike over three videos we uploaded from a Trump rally we broadcasted last month.

A YouTube representative contacted RSBN to inform us that “a copyright takedown notice was filed” against three videos “by Sony Music Entertainment as the result of a complete and facially valid takedown notice.”

Consequently, YouTube automatically removed three videos that contained a portion of the song “My Hero” by Foo Fighters when President Donald J. Trump introduced Robert F. Kennedy Jr. onstage at a rally in Glendale, Arizona, last month.

While RSBN understands Sony’s copyright policy, it appears that an unfair standard is being applied to a pro-Trump media outlet. Several other videos by mainstream outlets, alternative news channels, and independent accounts remain published on YouTube and presumably have not received a strike resulting in the removal of the clips.

It is important to note that the music aired in the videos was not played by RSBN. By simply broadcasting a public campaign event held by a presidential candidate, RSBN’s YouTube channel has received one strike.
