President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden on Tuesday in a social media post, arguing that most new jobs under the Biden-Harris administration went to illegal immigrants.
Trump shared the strong words in a Truth Social post hours after Biden’s speech at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago.
“Most new jobs under Biden went to illegal Immigrants. Additionally, he got what is known as Covid Bounce-back jobs, standard for all countries after a pandemic. He did terribly on jobs, and everything else!” Trump argued.
A report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) offers more details supporting Trump’s statement.
“It is true that the country has added millions of jobs since the height of Covid. However, most of that employment growth has gone to immigrants, both legal and illegal,” CIS Director of Research Steven Camarota wrote in June.
The numbers show that many Americans are missing out on economic growth under Biden’s presidency.
“The government’s household survey shows that there were only 971,000 more U.S.-born Americans employed in May 2024 compared to May 2019 prior to the pandemic, while the number of employed immigrants has increased by 3.2 million,” Camarota added.
Biden addressed the DNC audience well after midnight Eastern Time Monday night.
First Lady Jill Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton also spoke on the first night of the convention. Former First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to address attendees on Tuesday evening.
Trump’s strong words concerning jobs also come as Vice President Kamala Harris turned down a Sept. 4 debate. Trump took to Truth Social on Monday to point out the concern and share his plans to instead hold a town hall on Fox News during the time slot.
“Comrade Kamala Harris has just informed us that she will NOT do the Fox News Debate on September 4th,” Trump wrote.
“I am not surprised by this development because I feel that she knows it is very difficult, at best, for her to defend her record setting Flip-Flopping on absolutely everything she once believed in, including her statements that THERE WILL BE NO FRACKING IN PENNSYLVANIA and her HORRIBLE Performance on the Border, our ‘Border Czar,’ where millions of criminals and people from mental institutions and terrorists, have been allowed to pour into our Country, totally unchecked and unvetted. It’s called, and she LOVES IT, an OPEN BORDER!!!” he added.
