President Trump slammed Senator Chris Van Hollen, D-MA, for traveling to El Salvador to visit deported MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
“Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland looked like a fool yesterday, standing in El Salvador begging for attention from the Fake News Media, or anyone. GRANDSTANDER!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Van Hollen and other Democrats have spent the last two weeks advocating for the El Salvadorian citizen, claiming he was denied due process before being deported.
Wild conspiracies ensued about Abrego Garcia’s safety, with some claiming he was sent to a “death camp” since Van Hollen was denied access to see or speak to him.
El Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele shared multiple posts and photos from various X accounts highlighting Van Hollen’s devoted commitment to the illegal alien.
One from the White House account showcased a photo of President Trump with Patty Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin, who was raped and murdered by an illegal migrant from El Salvador in 2023. The other photo was of Van Hollen, with his hand extended across the table while he leaned in toward MS-13 gang member Abrego Garcia. The caption simply read “We are not the same.”
While visiting the White House on Wednesday, Morin blasted Van Hollen for prioritizing Abrego Garcia while he “didn’t even acknowledge” her daughter’s murder.
In a statement to the New York Post, the White House took aim at Van Hollen’s actions.
“Chris Van Hollen has firmly established Democrats as the party whose top priority is the welfare of an illegal alien MS-13 terrorist.”
“It is truly disgusting. President Trump will continue to stand on the side of law-abiding Americans,” the statement also read.
