A 1050-page report from the GOP House Judiciary Committee has shaken the political establishment to its core with shocking disclosures of the alleged politicization of the FBI and the Justice Department.
Via Just the News, the report was released on Friday. Amid a year swamped with allegations of political weaponization at the hands of the nation’s formerly esteemed institutions of justice, this report presents a damning perspective on the bureau and the DOJ.
Per the executive summary of the report:
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the stewardship of Director Chistopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, is broken. The problem lies not with the majority of front-line agents who serve our country, but with the FBI’s politicized bureaucracy. The problem lies, for example, with the FBI hierarchy that spied on President Trump’s campaign and ridiculed conservative Americans.
The problem lies with FBI bureaucrats who altered and mischaracterized evidence to federal courts, circumvented safeguards, and exploited weaknesses in policies governing investigations and informants to target politically disfavored subjects and to protect favored ones. The problem lies with the FBI structure that centralizes high-profile cases in D.C., in the hands of politicized actors with politicized incentives. Quite simply – the rot within the FBI – festers in and proceeds from Washington.”
The report includes the testimony of “a multitude of whistleblowers” who brought forth allegations to the committee of “political bias by the FBI’s senior leadership and misuses of the agency’s federal law enforcement powers.”
The claims are serious, ranging from accusations of artificially inflating statistics regarding domestic extremism to abusing counterterrorism authorities for the purpose of investigating parents who were speaking up at school board meetings, per the report.
Further:
“President Biden has shown no problem in labeling his political opponents as racists, fascists, and domestic terrorists. The FBI under Director Wray has been willing to exert its law-enforcement tools in a manner guided by political calculations. Whistleblowers allege that the FBI is manipulating data about domestic violent extremism to support the Biden Administration’s political agenda.”
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., stated on Twitter regarding the report that “The FBI & DOJ will not be given a free pass.”
