Americans will soon be following in the footsteps of liberty-loving Canadians by forming their own truck convoy that will kick off next Wednesday in Barstow, California, according to a report from Just the News.
The “People’s Convoy,” which is meant to push back against tyrannical Covid-related mandates from the state and federal government, will roll out on Feb. 23 and blaze a trail to Washington D.C. to send a message to lawmakers that vaccine mandates must end.
“We demand the declaration of national emergency concerning the Covid-19 pandemic be lifted immediately and our cherished constitution reign supreme,” the group’s website reads.
However, national event organizer Maureen Steele stated that the biggest concern in getting this convoy off the ground is not organic involvement, but operational security. According to Just the News’ report, Steele stated that because people have had a month’s notice to prepare for the event, disruptive groups could also have had time to prepare to insert themselves into the convoy route.
“We’re trying to just prepare for counter-protests and to take safety precautions for that,” she said.
The Peoples’ Convoy website states the following about the purpose and goal of the convoy:
“WHO WE ARE: We are truckers, moms, students, nurses, doctors, investors, county workers, teachers, cowboys, loggers, engineers, sanitation workers, professors, cashiers, flight attendants, pilots, sales reps, physical therapists. WE ARE, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, married, single, divorced, separated, gay, straight. WE ARE Black, White, Asian, Native American. WE ARE immigrants, natives: WE ARE citizens of the free world.”
Further, Steele shared that the People’s Convoy is not utilizing GoFundMe or any anti-freedom fundraising services to avoid running the risk of having donations frozen or seized. In an interview with Eric Bolling on Newsmax, she said, “…Our funds should not be able to be frozen or hijacked, and all the money is being held by this third-party firm, so we can assure that it absolutely gets to the truckers and it’s clean.”
A reported 1,000 truckers are headed to Barstow to kick off the convoy. It is expected that many more people will join the convoy en route to Washington D.C.
