The Biden administration has drafted a letter to mainstream news outlets pressing them to scrutinize impeachment efforts to remove Joe Biden from office.
CNN news executives received a copy of the letter, which is also intended for the New York Times. It asks the outlets to “ramp up their scrutiny” of House leaders “for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,” per the New York Post.
The letter was penned by White House Counsel Office spokesman Ian Sams, who also claimed that the inquiry has no substantial evidence and “should set off alarm bells for news organizations.”
After Speaker McCarthy directed the House to open an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, the House Oversight Committee released a timeline of a scheme in which Joe Biden allegedly utilized his power in office to peddle influence through his son Hunter Biden’s questionable business dealings overseas.
Biden was also publicly caught lying about his son’s business issues and knowledge of them. According to the IJR, even the Washington Post called him out for lying.
During the 2020 presidential debate, Biden claimed that Hunter never made money from foreign business dealings. The article noted that Hunter admitted he had done so in court in July.
The IJR also referenced the Washington Post’s acknowledgment that Biden lied about his knowledge of Hunter’s business dealings in 2019 and that this was debunked by Hunter’s business partner Devon Archer during House Oversight Committee hearings.
