Joe Biden and his administration condemned Russia’s federal election on Monday after reports of voter fraud began circulating.
Their condemnation comes just months after the left vehemently dispelled the possibility of election fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election and labeled anyone who questioned the results as a “conspiracy theorist” or “threat to democracy.”
The Russian legislative election took place over three days, from Sept. 17 to Sept. 19, as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Putin-backed United Russia party handily won the election, although the legitimacy of their victory was questioned by the Biden administration.
The Biden administration called “upon Russia to honor its international obligations to respect human rights and fundamental freedoms and to end its pressure campaign on civil society, the political opposition, and independent media.”
According to the State Department, there were “widespread efforts to marginalize independent political figures,” and that election integrity watchdog groups were prevented by Putin “from observing the elections, constricting transparency that is essential to fair elections.”
Ironically, the problems that Joe Biden outlined with his criticism of Russia’s election are poetically similar to those reported during the 2020 U.S. presidential election that he and Democrats dismissed as “conspiracy theories.”
According to officials, voter turnout in Russia’s election was unrealistically high, a factor that can be seen as an indicator of election fraud. Identically, the 2020 U.S. presidential election garnered unexpectedly high turnout, and Joe Biden received exceedingly more votes than any single candidate in American history, despite his having an unenthusiastic base.
Days before the election in Russia, Google had blocked United Russia’s opposition candidates from sharing political content online, censoring them for “extremism.” Similarly, Google whistleblower Zach Vorhies alleged that the media conglomerate rewrote their algorithm to negatively depict President Donald Trump in 2020.
Others have citied that the results of three-day voting period in Russia created additional time for individuals to commit fraud. However, numerous states across the U.S. granted additional days after the 2020 election to count mail-in votes and absentee ballots. Democrats have dismissed the possibility that this practice encouraged fraud in the U.S.
According to the Associated Press, images and video footage leaked from surveillance cameras have shown individual stuffing large numbers of ballots into ballot boxes. There was also footage of confrontations and disturbances between poll workers and election monitors trying to expose voting violations. Election monitors shared images of thick piles of ballots in ballot boxes that were seemingly put there all at once.
However, Russian election officials and the head of the election commission, Ella Pamfilova, praised the voting process, saying that it took place with “maximum openness.”
“The vote happened fairly, the results are reliable and the legitimacy of the results of the vote are indisputable,” said Pamfilova.
Those who question or allude to the possibility of election fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election are labeled by Democrats and the media as “conspiracy theorists” and a “threats to democracy.” Democrats insist that the election was impenetrable because safeguards were in place to protect against fraud.
Four years earlier, Democrats argued the opposite, baselessly insisting that Donald Trump stole the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton by colluding with Russia. Democrats launched a ruthless three-year long investigation into Donald Trump, and the final report stated that he did nothing that violated the integrity of the election.
Thus, Democrats’ condemnation of Russia’s election contradict their own election statements made in the United States in 2020. Their condemnation of a foreign election thats results were deemed “indisputable,” is a direct threat to democracy, according to their past comments.
