Border Czar Tom Homan said Monday that immigration enforcement operations will expand in New York City and other sanctuary cities, as the Trump administration escalates legal action against jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities.

“We’re going to be in New York City and President Trump said it two weeks ago,” Homan told reporters. “We’re going to double down and triple down on sanctuary cities. Why? Not because they’re a blue city or a blue state… because we know that’s where the problem is.”

Homan criticized sanctuary jurisdictions for releasing individuals who pose public safety or national security risks. “They’re releasing public safety threats and national security threats to the streets every day,” he said. “We know that. We don’t have that problem in Florida, where every sheriff in the state is working with us.”

“I’ve said it before, we’ll flood the zone on sanctuary cities,” Homan added.

His comments come shortly after Congress passed the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act, a sweeping immigration law that includes funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hire up to 10,000 additional agents.

President Donald Trump has pledged to deport as many as 21 million people living in the U.S. illegally. The administration has also taken legal steps against cities like Los Angeles, where officials have publicly refused to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement efforts.

The news also came after the president honored the work of border officials on Wednesday, congratulating the nation on the lowest recorded nationwide encounters in the nation’s history for June.

The president shared the news in a lengthy post on Truth Social, also urging Republicans to pass his “Big Beautiful Bill.”

“CONGRATULATIONS AMERICA! The June Border Statistics are in and, once again, they are the LOWEST RECORDED NUMBERS IN UNITED STATES HISTORY. The U.S. Border Patrol reported ZERO releases of Illegal Aliens into the Country,” Trump wrote.

“In addition, Customs and Border Protection only had 25,243 ‘Nationwide Encounters’ throughout the entire month, which is absolutely STAGGERING, considering the Biden Administration was ‘encountering’ tens of thousands of people every single DAY,” he added.
