President Donald Trump handled a loud protestor in Indianola, Iowa, on Sunday like a pro while delivering remarks at a final Commit to Caucus Rally on the eve of the anticipated caucuses.
The protestor was a young woman who began shouting toward the stage in an attempt to disrupt the president’s speech. While it is unclear what she was shouting about, some have posted online that she was fired up about climate change.
The crowd rallied around President Trump and began shouting “TRUMP” over her yelling. The president maintained his steady composure while waiting for the young woman to be escorted from the audience.
He joked that she should “go home to mommy” and pointed out that she was simply “young” and “immature.” Trump also took the high road and noted that in terms of free speech, “This is why we have America.”
President Trump’s simple and easy handling of the situation was a stark contrast to Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., who seemed to struggle while dealing with a climate protestor at one of his Iowa campaign events earlier this month.
According to a video shared by the New York Post, DeSantis raised his voice and engaged loudly with the heckler after the protestor was tackled off the stage.
While the interaction was not necessarily shocking, it does seem to illustrate the difference between the personalities and leadership styles of President Trump and Gov. DeSantis.
