Iowans in the great Hawkeye State will not be deterred from showing up to caucus for President Donald J. Trump, and the turnout for the president’s final Iowa events this weekend is proof that the MAGA spirit is soaring higher than ever.
Amid historic record-low temperatures and snow-laden roads and blizzards, Trump voters showed up in force in Indianola on Sunday to see the president speak at a Commit to Caucus Rally.
According to the National Weather Service, it was around -9 degrees in Iowa on Sunday, with a wind chill warning until Tuesday. The wind chills were forecast to be “as low as 45 below zero.”
President Trump, however, was in good spirits and ready to go on Sunday, telling a packed house of supporters, “You have to see what’s outside, we have a LOT of people here…if this is any indication, the storm has had ZERO effect [on voter turnout].”
He praised Iowans for being “hearty” and declared that, “One day from now, we’re going to WIN Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses!”
The president began his day by visiting with the Team Trump volunteers who were working the phone bank with just one day to go until the caucuses on Jan. 15.
During his speech, President Trump also advised caucus-goers to pretend that he was “one point down” rather than enjoying a double-digit lead in the polls right now in Iowa, encouraging caucus turnout and a strong mission focus on winning in a landslide.
