Three conservative leaders are blowing the whistle on the Pentagon regarding reports that absentee ballots for active duty military service members are depleted.
According to a press release released by Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., on Friday, the Pentagon has allegedly displayed “negligence in facilitating the ability of every active duty armed service member across the nation and overseas to vote this election cycle.”
He has joined forces with Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., and Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., to demand that “Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin mobilize the Pentagon’s resources to ensure eligible active duty service members are afforded the opportunity to vote if they so choose.”
They formally listed their complaints in a letter sent to Austin on Friday. This noted that service members came forward to point out the military’s lack of administrative education on voter registration and how to request an absentee ballot or fill in a federal write-in absentee ballot if their mail-in ballot didn’t arrive on time.
In addition, the letter noted that other whistleblowers claimed, “When a request for a federal write-in absentee ballot was made, they were told the base’s stockpile of such ballots was depleted and had not been replenished.”
Mast posted about the situation on X, Friday. He said, “Joe Biden & Kamala Harris are failing to facilitate the right to vote for our men and women in uniform.”
“I’m calling on the Pentagon to mobilize every resource necessary so our nation’s elite warriors don’t miss out on voting for the next commander-in-chief,” he added.
