During a campaign event in Warren, Michigan, on Friday, President Donald Trump alluded that he may shift the campaign rally format, suggesting what he called a new “phase” just days before the presidential election.

Trump spoke on the nine years of his well-known campaign rallies and suggested that the format for which he hosts rallies may soon change.

“We’re not gonna have this too much longer,” said the president. “Nine years we’ve been doing it, right? And now we’re winding down, and hopefully, we’ll be going to the next phase, which is turning our country around.”

As he spoke towards his vision for America’s future, the president further acknowledged that challenges which faced the nation, describing them as a “mess” to be taken care of.

“We’ve got a little bit of a mess to take care of, don’t we?” he told the crowd. “But we’ll get it done, and we’ll get it done right.”

This sentiment of optimism was one central component to the president’s message at the rally, as he assured his voters that his approach remained focused on “getting things done” if he were elected. He further explained to the audience that there would be “even better rallies in a different form” coming later.

Trump’s appearance in Michigan is one of many efforts to win one of the seven key battleground states. Despite his plans to change his rally format, Trump remains determined in the final campaign stretch, visiting states nationwide for multiple rallies daily.

His rallies have been a staple of his personality for the past nine years, in which he used the stage to slam his political opponents, and motivate his base to get out and vote.

Despite these changes, however, the Trump rallies will likely be here to stay, as they have become Trump’s own political identity, allowing him the chance to connect with his voters.

As he explained, “even better rallies in a different form” could be coming after he becomes president, and this “next phase” will take place after turning the country around following his assention to the presidency.

In the meantime, as the rallies continue, it is clear that Trump has set his sights on solving the problems from the past four years, should he win the election.
