Conservatives across the United States are praying for New York City after Tuesday’s election declared Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani Mayor-elect.

According to the New York Post, Mamdani won just over 50 percent of the vote after campaigning on promises to expand government control of child care, grocery stores, bus services and even rent rates.

Conservative political commentator Chad Prather responded to the news in a post on X, stating, “New York City just turned red… and not the patriotic kind. The land of opportunity is now the land of government control. Pray for New Yorkers, because freedom just took the last train out of town.”

Senior Policy Advisor for Dan Crenshaw, André Béliveau,  wrote, “Praying for all my friends and family who live and work in NYC. Socialism destroys everything it touches. Let us pray New York can stay strong.”

Brigitte Gabriel, Founder and Chairman of ACT for America, simply said, “Pray for New York City.”

New York Post correspondent Lydia Moynihan posted a clip of Mamdani’s victory speech, pointing out just why Americans who believe in free enterprise, property ownership, and individual rights should be concerned. She wrote, “In case anyone thought Mamdani was moderating his views… he opened his speech quoting Eugene Debs, the founder of the socialist party in America.”

Influencer Anna Lulis didn’t just focus on New York. She referenced Virginia’s election results, stating, “New York elected a Muslim who supports aborting babies with a heartbeat, arms, fingers, and toes. Virginia elected a man who fantasized about killing conservatives and their babies. Violence is officially normalized in the Democrat Party.”

She then asked everyone to “Pray for America.”
