Conservatives are urging leaders to elect Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Speaker of the House.

According to the Washington Examiner, Jordan received 152 committed Republican conference members, and it is unclear whether he will be able to procure the 217 votes needed to procure the Speakership.

Despite this, Jordan told reporters Monday night, “We need to get a speaker tomorrow, the American people deserve to have their Congress, their House of Representatives, working,” via Fox News

“I felt good walking into the conference, I feel even better now,” he added.

Conservatives began rallying around him in support of his bid for the Speakership.

Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., stated, “Today is the day! Jim Jordan for Speaker.”

Political commentator Rogan O’Handley noted, “Today, October 17th, is the day we elect Jim Jordan as Speaker. And if we don’t, then we primary the RINOs that thwart the will of their voters.”

He posted to Truth Social Tuesday morning, once again stating, “Jim Jordan will be a GREAT Speaker of the House. As everyone knows, I have long ago given him my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who initially motioned to have former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy removed from his position, said, “Republicans must unite and elect @Jim_Jordan as Speaker of the House!”

“We can have better days going forward because he has the credibility, honesty, and determination to get the job done,” Gaetz said.

Even former Speaker Kevin McCarthy chimed in. He said, “My prediction → @Jim_Jordan will be the 56th Speaker of the House.”
