A country music legend congratulated President Trump this week for his success in pushing back against the ‘woke monster.” In an interview with Fox News, John Rich described his view of Trump’s victory over the cancel culture and censorship that has long dominated in Hollywood.

Rich spoke of people in Hollywood who are “leftists in a big way,” but were exhausted by the constant censorship that plagued the industry. He shared a story of a friend of his who was a comedian and a Bernie Sanders supporter but was afraid of telling certain jokes due to possible backlash and fear of being “cancelled.” Rich said he told his friend that going through life was “not American.”

“I think the monster began to eat itself,” Rich said. “The woke monster, the censorship monster began to eat itself.”

The celebrity pushback against cancel culture has also been demonstrated by Trump receiving praise from unexpected sources. Earlier this week, in an appearance on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, film director Woody Allen spoke positively about his interactions with Trump in the past.

Allen described his time directing Trump in the 1998 film “Celebrity,” in which Trump had a cameo appearance playing himself, and was nothing but complimentary of Trump’s acting ability and demeanor during the production.

“I’m one of the few people who can say he directed Trump,” Allen said. “He was a pleasure to work with and a very good actor.”

After joking that praise for Trump could get Allen cancelled, Maher ultimately agreed with the on his view of the President. “He’s different in person,” Maher said, referencing his meeting with Trump at the White House earlier this year.

Allen stressed that he does not agree with Trump politically, and told Maher that he had voted for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. However, despite political differences, Allen did not hold back in praising his interaction with Trump. “He was very polite and hit his mark and did everything correctly and had a real flair for show business,” Allen said. “He was very easy to work with.”
