Amid Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s sinking presidential campaign, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has gained some ground on the Florida governor for the runner-up position in the GOP presidential primary race.
However, Haley’s close ties to establishment politics and her publicly broken promise not to run against Donald Trump in a Republican primary have drawn the ire of many voters who do not consider her an America First candidate by any stretch.
Journalist and media personality Tucker Carlson, who now hosts “The Tucker Carlson Encounter” on X, openly criticized Haley this past week at Turning Point USA’s AmFest 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona.
During comments made on Timcast, Carlson said he was opposed to Nikki Haley potentially joining President Donald Trump on a 2024 presidential ticket as the vice-presidential candidate.
“I would not only NOT vote for that ticket, I would advocate against it as strongly as I could,” Carlson stated when presented with the idea.
Carlson revealed recently that he was voting for Trump in 2024 while on the Roseanne Barr Podcast.
Carlson further explained, “That’s just poison. I mean, here’s someone who’s ACTIVELY opposed to the interest of the country I grew up in, who endorsed the BLM riots and who is not left, but is neoliberal in the darkest, most…nihilistic way. And has no real popular support and is a creature of the oligarchs.”
Carlson said that Haley, as vice president, would be a reason to oppose a Trump 2024 ticket. However, it is worth noting that talk of Haley as the vice presidential candidate is purely speculative and is unlikely to happen.
At this time, President Trump has been very tight-lipped about a potential running mate in 2024, but voters can expect that he may announce his choice in the next few months as the GOP presidential primary heats up.
Prospective names floated by conservatives online include Dr. Ben Carson, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., Arizona U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake, and even Tucker Carlson himself. None of these names have ever been confirmed by President Trump.
