Arrests at the U.S.-Mexico border have hit an all-time high, skyrocketing to new and troubling heights under the absent leadership of the Biden administration. According to a report from The Epoch Times, border arrests eclipsed two million in just one year.
Per the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the number of individuals encountered nationwide in August 2022 was 157,921. They also reported that the detained asylum seekers were from places like Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
Additionally, their September report revealed a total of 203,598 encounters along the southwest land border in August, wherein 22 percent of those encounters were individuals who had previously made contact at the border within the last 12 months.
Per the CBP’s press release, CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus made the following statement regarding the situation:
“Failing communist regimes in Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba are driving a new wave of migration across the Western Hemisphere, including the recent increase in encounters at the southwest U.S. border. Our dedicated teams of skilled agents continue to work around the clock to secure our border and safely and humanely process and vet every individual encountered, but those fleeing repressive regimes pose significant challenges for processing and removal.”
President Donald Trump has addressed the influx of illegal migrants who have been entering the country by the millions since Biden took office, attributing the flood of international traffic to the dramatic spike in violent crime within the U.S.
“The southern border has been completely erased,” Trump told supporters during a Saturday night Save America rally in Youngstown, Ohio. “We no longer have a border…Our country is being invaded – it’s an invasion by millions of illegal aliens.”
One of the key mechanisms that has facilitated the onslaught of unfettered illegal migration since Trump left office was Joe Biden’s move to abolish the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), which mandated the federal government to send migrants back to their home countries while they waited for their asylum court hearings, per RSBN.
