With the midterms fast approaching, the Republican Party is poised to potentially host an unprecedented convention in the months before the elections – an event usually reserved for presidential election years.

According to The Independent, President Donald Trump, along with the Republican National Committee, is allegedly eying Dallas, Texas, as a possible location for such a convention. This location is not confirmed, but it could be a possibility.

“While there has been speculation in the media about the location and date, no contracts have been signed and any reporting on those details remains purely speculative at this time,” RNC Senior Advisor Danielle Alvarez told the outlet.

As reported by RSBN, the president may have previously been considering Las Vegas, Nevada, as a venue for the event.

“The Republicans are going to do a Midterm Convention in order to show the great things we have done since the Presidential Election of 2024,” the president wrote on Truth Social last year. “Time and place to be determined. Stay tuned, it will be quite the Event, and very exciting!”

In 2025, President Trump projected great confidence that Republicans were in a strong position to perform well in the 2026 midterm election, citing the tremendous energy of the 2024 presidential election cycle.

“We won every aspect of the Presidential Election and, based on the great success we are having, are poised to WIN BIG IN THE MIDTERMS,” he argued.

Republicans are certainly in a strong position to perform well in the midterms if they put the effort into it. Currently, Polymarket odds place Democrats at an 84 percent chance of winning the majority in the House, while Republicans are projected to likely maintain their majority in the U.S. Senate (52 percent).

The midterms may come down to just one or two critical seats, and so the midterm convention may play a key role in energizing the voting base in the lead-up to the elections this fall.
