Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., is taking a hardline stance against Critical Race Theory (CRT) and “woke” indoctrination in Florida schools. During a “Freedom from Indoctrination” press conference on Friday, DeSantis promised Florida is “not going to use your tax dollars to teach kids to hate this country or to hate each other.”

On the same day, Gov. DeSantis signed a bill banning the use of CRT in Florida classrooms and workplace training sessions, according to the New York Post.

“We believe that every single student matters, that every single student counts. We are not going to categorize you based on your race,” Gov. DeSantis continued in his remarks.

He added, “We are not gonna tell some Kindergartner that they’re an oppressor based on their race, and what may have happened a hundred or two hundred years ago. And we’re not gonna tell other kids that they’re oppressed, based on their race.”

Gov. DeSantis is no stranger to battling “indoctrination” in Florida’s schools. He promised in January that his administration would be working toward removing CRT from the educational setting.

“They want these kids to hate this country,” DeSantis stated in a January interview with Mark Levin. “They want them to reject our founding—our institutions—and they want to replace that with their leftist ideology, which would obviously be disastrous for this country’s future.”

The governor further stated on Twitter that following the historic signing of the bill, “woke indoctrination” in the workplace would end. “We are giving parents, students, and employees the ability to fight back,” he said.

This move to swiftly end the implementation of CRT comes on the heels of the Florida Department of Education revealing examples of four math textbooks that the Florida Department of Education recently banned from the classroom due in part to containing elements of CRT.
