Gov. Ron DeSantis took aim at Biden’s “Disinformation Governance Board,” calling it a “belated April Fool’s joke” and comparing it to George Orwell’s “Ministry of Truth.”

“You cannot have a ‘Ministry of Truth’ in this country,” the governor said Friday, according to Florida Politics. “We’re not going to let Biden get away with this one. We will be fighting back.”

DeSantis’ comments follow an announcement by the Department of Homeland Security that it would establish a Disinformation Governance Board only days after Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk purchased the anti-free speech tech giant Twitter.

The governor also described the leader to head the board, Nina Jankowicz, as an “advocate for COVID lockdowns who herself has put out disinformation about the Hunter Biden tapes, who supported Russian collusion conspiracy theories.”

“This is not acceptable, and in Florida, we’re not going to have it,” DeSantis added.

Many speculate that Musk’s recent deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion sparked the Biden administration to launch a speech police force out of fear that the billionaire’s new leadership would halt all censorship policies.

Musk was among the many Americans calling out the Biden administration in responses to the new governing board, calling the measure “messed up” on Twitter.
