DOGE’s Vivek Ramaswamy gives full analysis of ‘pork’ continuing resolution

Vivek Ramaswamy, self-proclaimed sSmall-government crusader” and soon-to-be joint-head of the Department of Government Efficiency, provided an in-depth analysis of the omnibus continuing resolution bill currently being debated in Congress.

Ramaswamy read the 1,500+ page bill, which is typically something even members of Congress forgo, and had much to say about its contents.

In a lengthy post on X, he wrote that the bill was “full of excessive spending, special interest giveaways & pork barrel politics.”

Ramaswamy pointedly quipped, “If Congress wants to get serious about government efficiency, they should VOTE NO.”

He wrote that simply keeping the government open until March 14 would cost around $380 billion, but noted, “the true cost of this omnibus CR is far greater due to new spending.”

Ramaswamy blasted Congress for waiting until the last minute to act instead of following the prescribed process for required spending bills.

“The urgency is 100% manufactured & designed to avoid serious public debate,” Ramaswamy wrote.

He pointed out that the bill “could have easily been under 20 pages,” but that there were “dozens of unrelated policy items crammed into” the lengthy bill.

Ramaswamy listed some of the unnecessary spending, including 72 pages related to pandemic preparedness and the renewal of the Global Engagement Center, a controversial player in censorship.

The bill also includes 17 pieces of Commerce legislation, plans to advance the construction of a new football stadium in Washington D.C., and perhaps most egregiously, a pay raise for themselves.

“It’s indefensible to ram these measures through at the last second without debate,” Ramaswamy wrote.

“We’re grateful for DOGE’s warm reception on Capitol Hill. Nearly everyone agrees we need a smaller & more streamlined federal government, but actions speak louder than words. This is an early test. The bill should fail,” he concluded.

Ramaswamy also posted a TikTok video informing Americans of the “pork funding” included in the bill.

He told users, “The reason I’m co-heading DOGE is I think we need outsiders to bring actual accountability to Washington D.C.”

He encouraged Americans to call their congressmen to let them know how they feel about the bill.
