President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., revealed his top pick to serve as his father’s 2024 running mate Wednesday on The First TV’s show.

Donald Trump Jr. appeared on “I’m Right with Jesse Kelly” to discuss Trump’s growing post-debate support and rumors over his vice president short list. While show host Jesse Kelly highlighted Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, who is rumored to be on the list, he noted his support behind the potential pick.

“I don’t think I’ve been even remotely silent about it, that’s been my number one pick from pretty much since day one for the VP slot. Because it’s not just about the VP slot, you watch J.D. – J.D. can go on CNN and smack around the opposition like they’re little children. Which they are,” Donald Jr. said.

Trump’s eldest son continued to state, “If anyone’s not seen or read Hillbilly Elegy that’s the guy we started fighting for. That’s why my father got into this movement, that forgotten man or woman. So yea, to me, I’d say he’s by far our best senator so I hate pulling him from that.”

Vance gained Trump’s support in 2022 as the 45th president endorsed him in his race for his state’s GOP primary run over former state Treasurer Josh Mandel and others, according to NBC News. Since then, the Ohio senator has been an advocate for Trump in his presidential run and has called out attacks from Democrats against Trump.

The GOP senator has also gained attention for his quick comebacks while appearing on networks such as CBS and NBC. In his latest appearance on NBC, Vance sparred with the network’s host Kristen Welker as he called out Biden’s top Department of Justice (DOJ) official, Matthew Colangelo, joining Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s team prior to helping lead multiple cases against Trump.

Along with Vance, reports have indicated that he is joined by North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and a few others on the list for Trump’s running mate options.

“But I also look at a JD Vance as a generational character. He’s someone that can take the movement, meaning the American First, MAGA, however you want to look at it. Breaking away from establishment conservatism and actually run with that for eight years after four more years of Trump,” Donald Jr. said.
