This past December, Georgia attorney Ann Brumbaugh admitted that the 2020 election in Fulton County—one of the many “ground zeros” for election fraud—was certified in violation of the rule of law at a level that impacted 315,000 votes. The claim that previously led to censorship, indictments, and, in some instances, death, was casually confirmed during a hearing as if it were an insignificant footnote. Vindication is a pivotal first step, but this admission must serve as the beginning, not the end of revelations about the 2020 election given the catastrophic damage it inflicted on the nation, even as President Trump, serving as the 47th president rather than the 45th title he would have maintained had he rightfully remained in power, has righted many of the wrongs that resulted from it.
Fulton County was a focal point in a key swing state that was inaccurately decided by a narrow margin of just 11,779 votes. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (no ally of President Trump) initially stated that a Biden victory in the state was not possible, as the number of outstanding votes would not be sufficient for Biden to overcome Trump’s lead—even if all of the remaining ballots went to him (which would have been impossible). Yet days of seemingly endless “mail-in” ballots continued to arrive until Biden’s vote tally finally surpassed President Trump’s. This, combined with similar discrepancies that were prevented from being litigated across other battleground states, paved the way for a presidency that birthed nation-altering weaponization, censorship, and political hostility that reached a level not seen since the 1960s when assassinations became the norm.
While claims of election fraud were previously given their day in court, President Trump’s concerns about voter fraud were dismissed as impossible and denigrated as baseless sore-losing and conspiracy theorizing by both the political establishment and the mainstream media. This left little to no room for such claims to gain meaningful traction in the court of public opinion, despite how true they were. As a result, President Trump’s reward for his valiant efforts to protect the sanctity of the vote was bans from various social media platforms, a second impeachment, and attempts to prevent him from appearing on ballots, all followed by an unprecedented indictment of a former president along with 18 other co-defendants.
“America’s Mayor,” Rudy Giuliani—who for decades was held in high regard by both Democrats and Republicans alike for his patriotic leadership of New York City in the immediate aftermath of 9/11—was stripped of his law license by the city he helped raise from the ashes. He was even ordered to surrender personal assets as collateral to meet the excessive cost of a defamation settlement levied against him. Dr. John Eastman, an esteemed lawyer and academic, proposed sending dueling electors to contested states, just as occurred in the disputed elections of 1876 and 1960. Despite this clear precedent, Eastman was temporarily suspended from practicing law in Washington, D.C., and later had a California State Bar Court Review Department uphold a state judge’s recommendation to disbar him. Jeff Clark, a DOJ attorney during President Trump’s first term who is now serving as Acting Administrator of the OIRA (Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs) in his second term, faced a proposed two-year suspension from practicing law in Washington, D.C., before the Board on Professional Responsibility recommended that he be disbarred. These are just a few instances of how those with the fortitude to fight for the nation were targeted, silenced, and, in some cases, destroyed.
Despite how abhorrent all of the aforementioned events were, they were ultimately less severe than the literal deaths that flowed downstream from the theft of the 2020 election. 13 American soldiers were killed during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal at Abbey Gate less than one year into Biden’s term. January 6th prisoners (who were only in Washington D.C. to protest the election now confirmed as being unlawfully certified to begin with) who were victims of the Biden administration’s weaponization of government sank to such deep levels of despair that they took their own lives. A countless number of American citizens were killed at the hands of illegal aliens who flooded into the U.S. under Biden’s nonexistent border policy. More recently, an FDA memo revealed that children were killed “after and because of receiving” the Covid vaccine, which were mandated by Biden but would not have been had the Trump administration remained in power. While morbid, death is unfortunately, yet undeniably the identity of the Biden era.
Now, as President Trump stated this past spring, he is no longer the hunted, but rather the hunter. However, holding all the cards places him in an unenviable position. On one hand, he is tasked with uniting a nation intentionally divided by Joe Biden (and, frankly, Barack Obama before Trump’s first term). On the other, the president’s duty is to seek blind justice, regardless of where that leads or whom it appears to harm or benefit. Any form of accountability for those involved in the aforementioned acts would surely be spun and portrayed as political retribution. Thankfully, President Trump appears willing to endure any potential backlash in his pursuit of justice and accountability. In October, he called for the Department of Justice to pursue an investigation into the 2020 election with “as much ‘gusto’ as befitting the biggest SCANDAL in American history!” He has also repeatedly urged congressional Republicans to pass the SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act, which would require proof of citizenship when voting, thereby further protecting the nation from election fraud.
The theft of the 2020 election was a true crossing of the Rubicon. Previously, America had always maintained its reputation as a steady and unshakable beacon of “liberty and justice for all.” But in 2020, that reputation was severely tarnished, as the few brave patriots who sought to protect America’s once-sacred elections—guilty only of attempting to prevent the most egregious instance of election fraud in American history—were instead the ones being persecuted. Until rectified, that stain on America’s reputation will remain, no matter how great President Trump makes America again.
Justice should be pursued no matter the circumstances, but the reality is that public perception plays a massive role in what is and is not pursued. Five years after this crime was committed, the American people now have an admission that should undoubtedly serve as the opening salvo in fortifying America’s elections while seeking justice for previous ones that caused such tremendous harm. Even before the chaos Biden would unleash on the nation, the theft of our election was, in and of itself, sufficient grounds for accountability. When combined with the deaths and other travesties that were birthed as a result, accountability becomes an absolute necessity.
