The FBI has deployed resources in Chicago to support immigration enforcement, a move that is being criticized by opponents but hailed by those seeking to “Make Chicago Safe Again.”

According to Fox News, FBI Director Kash Patel told the outlet that the bureau is being utilized to help “safeguard the streets.” He spoke about the situation in a post on X, stating, “Chicago deserves safe streets. That’s why we’re surging FBI resources and taking on violent crime. We won’t let failed politicians put criminals first. Our mission: protect the American people.”

The White House Rapid Response account also posted an interview with Patel on the Sean Hannity Show, describing the need for this partnership. “We learned that the Chicago city streets have 110,000 gang members,” he said. “They had 1,200 shootings this year alone. 360 homicides. When politicians choose to side with those metrics and not their citizenry, thank God we have President Trump and this Department of Justice and this FBI going in there and crushing violent crime.”

This came after National Guard troops from Texas were also deployed to Chicago, per the New York Post. Approximately 100 troops were deployed to the area to support ICE operations on Monday.

Last weekend, Chicago residents experienced 22 shootings and four homicides, per Fox News. Last week, a Department of Homeland Security press release confirmed that over 1,000 illegal aliens have been arrested, including child abusers, pedophiles, gang members, and other criminal illegals. This is a result of Operation Midway Blitz, which is continuing despite the government shutdown freezing officers’ pay.

Security consultant Donald N. Muhammed spoke out in favor of the measure, noting in a post on X, “I fully support the National Guard being deployed in and around Chicago. Too many families are suffering, too many children are growing up surrounded by chaos, and too many innocent people are being caught in the crossfire while our leaders continue to fail us.”

“Mayor Brandon Johnson’s refusal to let the men and women of the Chicago Police Department actually do their jobs has made things worse,” he added, going on to decry Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for his role in allowing crime to surge and supporting illegal immigration.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an Executive Order creating “ICE Free Zones” in the city on Monday. This prevents federal officers from upholding immigration law in these newly designated zones on the premise that illegal immigrants are “residents” needing protection from U.S. law.

Additionally, Pritzker has adamantly opposed President Trump’s commitment to protect U.S. immigration law. Over the weekend, he posted, “There is no need for military troops on the ground in the State of Illinois.”

On Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump continued to voice his support for protecting Chicago residents from the ongoing violence. He posted to Truth Social, stating, “Chicago Mayor should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers! Governor Pritzker also!”

Patel publicly praised the President’s efforts. “President Trump is letting good cops be cops.” He stated on X, adding, “Deputy AG Todd Blanche and I are here on the front lines in Chicago showing them support. Thanks to these men and women for serving the mission and saving American lives no matter what pro crime politicians may say.”
