The FBI has come under fire for engaging in potentially oppressive tactics aimed at American citizens, thanks to information that recently surfaced in an intelligence memo painting Catholics as radical extremists.

According to a report from Just the News, the FBI is in hot water after an intel memo from their Richmond field office strongly suggested that practicing Roman Catholics could be viewed as extremist threats, drawing the ire of millions of Americans who profess the Judeo-Christian faith.

Per their report, a former FBI agent, Kyle Seraphin, blew the whistle on the internal memo, prompting the bureau to backtrack and remove the document from their databases.

Screenshots from the alleged memo shared on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s, R-Ga., account revealed disturbing text from the bureau. For example: “Interest of Racially or Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremists in Radical-Traditional Catholic Ideology Almost Certainly Presents New Mitigation Opportunities.”

Charlie Kirk, the President of Turning Point USA, commented on Twitter, “The FBI was just caught plotting to target Catholics who attend Latin Mass using SPLC rhetoric as justification to treat them as enemies of the state. The KGB didn’t go away. They just got the FBI to adopt their tactics.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson discussed the FBI memo targeting Catholics

Even more disturbing, the FBI memo cited the Southern Poverty Law Center, a far-left organization aimed at identifying supposed hate groups and extremism in America, as a source in pinpointing several Catholic “hate groups” in 2021. Included on the list were Catholics Apologetics International, Christ or Chaos, Tradition in Action, and Catholic Family News.

“This is religious persecution,” Greene remarked. “And it’s being done by our own government. I’ll say it again. DEFUND THE FBI!”

Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec pointed out that “The FBI cited” an article from the Atlantic that labeled the Catholic rosary as an extremist symbol in their report.

In a statement made to Just the News, the FBI said that they were working to “remove the document from FBI systems” and would “conduct a review of the basis for the document.”
