President Donald Trump scored a big win in the court system recently, marking another legal win for the president amidst a hurricane of legal battles in 2023.
On Truth Social, Trump shared information from Leading Report, bringing a Pennsylvania judge’s previous ruling to light. The report read, “BREAKING: A judge in Pennsylvania has ruled that former President Trump has ‘presidential immunity’ and cannot be sued over statements he made about 2020 election fraud.”
The ruling, which seems to have largely flown under the radar in the media, was made in late July, and found that President Trump could not be sued by an election worker related to comments made about the 2020 election results while he was in office, The Hill reported.
According to the outlet, the president’s comments on Twitter in 2020 and remarks made during remote comments delivered to the Pennsylvania Senate committee hearing regarding Pennsylvania election tabulators are protected by presidential immunity.
This ruling comes as a second legal victory for the 45th president after a Florida judge ruled that a lawsuit that sought to disqualify him from appearing on the 2024 ballot lacked standing, RSBN previously reported.
The foundational argument for that lawsuit, which was brought by Florida tax attorney Lawrence Caplan, was based on the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, alleging that President Trump’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021 “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol was enough to disqualify him from holding office again.
In that case, Trump reigned supreme, putting to rest swirling rumors that the president could be stripped from the 2024 primary or general election ballots based on 14th Amendment arguments.
Per the Highland County Press, the Pennsylvania lawsuit against Trump was brought by a voting machine supervisor who alleged that the president and lawyer Rudy Giuliani conspired to defame him in their comments.
