President Donald Trump is locking up primary polling left and right, even in some of the more difficult political battlegrounds in the country.
The latest polling victory for the 45th president is in California, where he leads his Republican adversaries by dozens of points ahead of the rapidly approaching primary election season.
According to new data from the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) conducted in November, Trump gained another ten points with Golden State GOP primary voters, while Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., lost two.
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley eclipsed DeSantis’s sinking campaign and took the distant runner-up position with 13 percent of support against Trump’s 58 percent.
Previously, RSBN reported that the latest PPIC poll released this fall found the president with 53 percent support, with DeSantis netting 12 percent. Since then, DeSantis has continued to lose ground, and Trump has continued to gain it.
Haley’s ascent in the polls comes only amid DeSantis’s struggle to gain nationwide support from Republican voters and Independents who lean Republican.
The poll was conducted before North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) announced the suspension of his presidential campaign. In the PPIC poll, he netted two points of support.
Critically, Trump is also leading by impactful margins nationwide. The latest polling information from Redfield & Wilton Strategies showed that Trump is leading Joe Biden in six critical battleground states ahead of the 2024 general election: Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, and Florida.
In those key swing states, voters preferred President Trump by 18 points over Biden to get the economy back into shape. They also felt that Trump was in much better physical shape than Biden by 18 points.
Moreover, voters felt that Trump “knows how to get things done” better than Biden by 17 percent.
