President Donald Trump will be focusing intensely on the Hawkeye State in the next few weeks, with just over one month to go until the Iowa caucuses ignite the 2024 GOP primary election race with a fiery kickoff.
On Wednesday, Dec. 13, President Trump will travel to Coralville, Iowa, where he will deliver remarks at a Team Trump Iowa Commit to Caucus Event, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel.
In Iowa, Trump is the man to beat in the GOP primary race, leading the runner-up, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., by a hefty spread of 22 points, according to new data from The Trafalgar Group. Via their poll, Trump has captured 45 percent of support, while DeSantis has captured 22 percent.
The poll was conducted before North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) suspended his presidential campaign, representing 1.9 percent of the prospective GOP vote in Iowa.
The Iowa caucuses will undoubtedly set the tone for the 2024 Republican primary election race next year. The president has made multiple trips to the agriculture-heavy state throughout 2023, hammering home his commitment to protecting American farmers, Iowa ethanol, and domestic manufacturing.
In early December, Trump pulled off a doubleheader of caucus campaign events in Iowa, speaking in Ankeny and Cedar Rapids on the same day. He is also expected to return to Iowa after his Dec. 13 event with a trip to Waterloo on Dec. 19.
