House Republicans are off to a FIERY start, protecting innocent life and investigating Joe Biden

The Republicans are in the House, and it’s looking like there will be some sweet vindication for proponents of conservatism and justice in 2023 as the GOP gets down to business in D.C.

In January, the House elected Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., to succeed former Democrat Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. McCarthy was elected on the 15th ballot after a lengthy and tense period of negotiations with 20 House Republicans.

As reported by RSBN, the 20 House GOP members who blocked McCarthy’s vote were able to elicit historic concessions from McCarthy, including a single-member motion to vacate the Speakership in the 2023 House Rules package.

“…It gives us the opportunities to ensure that our goals regarding policy, procedure, and personnel are met,” Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., said last week during an interview on Fox News. “We’re going to have votes on term limits, balanced budgets, internal enforcement of our immigration laws – none of those things would have happened if we had caved on Monday.”

Thanks to the steely spines of 20 patriots in the House of Representatives, Republicans are poised to carry out a year of legislative warfare in the name of liberty.

And, if their first week of business is any indication of how impactful the House could be in securing American freedom in 2023, the future is looking bright.

House Judiciary Committee launches an investigation into Biden

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is a fiery favorite among conservatives and has found himself as the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Following the scandalous revelation that Joe Biden was allegedly storing classified material at several locations after his time serving as vice president, the committee announced recently that they would be launching an investigation into the situation.

According to a report from the Washington Examiner, Jordan put U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on notice, alerting him of the investigation and demanding a plethora of communications and documents associated with the review of Biden’s purported mishandling of the classified material.

This is a huge step forward for Americans who want to see Joe Biden scrutinized at the same equal level of justice and questioning that President Trump has been subjected to.

It’s time for the two-tiered system of justice to end.

Passage of the Born Alive Act

In their first week after electing McCarthy as Speaker, the Republican-controlled House passed the momentous Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Via RSBN, the bill passed at 220-210, with every single “no” vote coming from Democrat members of the House.

As if the line in the sand couldn’t be any more blatant, Democrats have clearly separated themselves from the pro-life platform by voting against providing medical treatment to infants who are born alive after a failed abortion procedure.

The House’s passage of this historic bill is a huge win for pro-life voters, people of faith, and those who value the sanctity of humanity.

Voted to nix billions that would have hired an army of 87,000 new IRS agents

Another historic move from the House during the first week was the vote to nix the billions of dollars that were set to fund an army of 87,000 new IRS agents. According to a report from Fox News, the House moved to rescind more than $70 billion in funding that would have been funneled straight to the IRS by passing the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act.

Further, the outlet reported that the legislation cut off any funding that might have been used to conduct new audits on Americans, as well as expand the size of the IRS.

This was a huge win for American citizens who were rightfully concerned about the proposed tyrannical expansion of a government agency like the IRS.

C-SPAN cameras may be capturing House proceedings soon

Rep. Matt Gaetz also took a step toward restoring transparency in the democratic process by introducing an amendment in the House that would allow for C-SPAN cameras to broadcast proceedings on the floor.

Many Americans enjoyed watching the tense but fascinating process of House proceedings during the four-day span of voting for the new Speaker of the House. Gaetz remarked to Fox News Digital recently that a lot of his own constituents found the process interesting to view.

As previously reported by RSBN, Gaetz touted the value of watching the “real time” functionality of representatives at work, stating that, “broader transparency is a net positive, and we need more of it.”

2023 has only just begun

Republicans in the House are in a position to stymie the radical, anti-American agenda of the far left, whether it is protecting the lives of babies born alive or cutting billions of dollars in funding to undeserving government agencies.

While the year has only just begun, the first week of business for the 118th Congress has been a successful venture for those who value small government, the sanctity of life, and sane spending policies.
