‘I may do it, I may not’: Trump keeps pressure on Iran, dismisses report

President Trump slams the news outlet The Wall Street Journal after it published that he had authorized attack plans against Iran. He reiterated that nobody currently knows what he is thinking on the matter.

On Wednesday, the paper had reported that President Trump had supposedly told senior aides late Tuesday that he had approved attack plans for Iran. Breitbart reported that the paper cited three anonymous sources familiar with the deliberations who claimed that President Trump withheld the final order to see if Tehran would abandon its nuclear program.

President Trump slammed the outlet on Truth Social, writing, “The Wall Street Journal has No Idea what my thoughts are concerning Iran!”

The story came after President Trump spoke to reporters outside the White House. According to Axios, President Trump told reporters that “Iran wants to negotiate.” But added, “I said it’s very late.”

He told reporters Iran had even suggested visiting Washington, but President Trump was unmoved by the offer. He said, “They want to negotiate. I ask: Why didn’t they negotiate two weeks ago? They could have done fine. It is very sad to watch this.” He added, “I told them to negotiate, and last minute they said no and they got hit.”

Breitbart reported that when asked by a reporter whether the U.S. is moving closer to striking Iran, President Trump replied, “You don’t seriously think I’m going to answer that question?” He elaborated, saying, “I mean, you don’t know that I’m going to do it. You don’t know. I may do it. I may not do it. I mean, nobody knows what I’m going to do.”

A firm answer that neither approves nor denies whether the U.S. will strike Iran. “We are not looking at a long-term war. I just want them not to get a nuclear weapon,” said President Trump.

For now, President Trump has left the door open to diplomacy but has reiterated that talks may be too late. He stands by his demand for unconditional surrender, and when asked what would happen if Ayatollah Ali Khamenei doesn’t surrender, he told a reporter, “I say good luck!”
