Kamala Harris does damage control after praising student’s remark accusing Israel of ‘ethnic genocide’

Kamala Harris’s office is attempting to repair relations with pro-Israel Democrats after praising a student’s anti-Israel remark accusing the Jewish nation of committing “ethnic genocide,” while visiting George Mason University on Tuesday.

A student attending Harris’ Q&A session at the university wrongly accused Israel of committing “ethnic genocide” in Palestine and blamed the United States for ignoring it, in which Harris praised the remark telling the student that their voice “must be heard,” according to Breitbart.

Harris’ response immediately drew backlash from the Israeli press and numerous pro-Israel Democrats, prompting Harris’ staff to contact pro-Israel lawmakers and groups, including the Democratic Majority for Israel, to reassure them of Harris’ commitment to Israel, according to Fox News.

“We were pleased Vice President Harris’s senior staff reached out to us today to confirm what we already knew: Her commitment to Israel’s security is unwavering,” said Mark Mellman, president of Democratic Majority for Israel.

Harris’ office also contacted CEO of Anti-Defamation League Jonathan Greenblatt on Thursday, the New York Post reported.

However, some were not impressed with her attempts to save face. Former U.S. ambassador to Israel David Friedman slammed Harris on Twitter, writing, “Shameful. There is truth and there are lies. No one is entitled to their personal truth. This attack on Israel is simply a lie and VPOTUS should have called that out.”
