Florida’s Palm Beach International Airport has officially been renamed “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” following Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) decision to sign legislation greenlighting the change earlier this year.

“It’s official!” wrote Eric Trump – one of President Trump’s sons – on X. The post included a video from a plane’s pilot cockpit, complete with audio over the radio system noting the official name change.

The Palm Beach International Airport website has already transitioned to the President Donald J. Trump International Airport, as of July 9. The three-letter Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identifier will change from PBI to DJT by August 18, information on the website noted.

The airport FAQ page additionally advised passengers searching for flights or checking baggage information to continue using the location code PBI until the official code switches to DJT next month.

Gov. DeSantis signed legislation in Florida in March approving the name change for the international airport, as reported by RSBN. Just two months later, Eric Trump unveiled a new logo for the airport, featuring an eagle, a shield of stars and stripes, and olive branches.

“For the first time, I am extremely proud to share the OFFICIAL logo for the Donald J. Trump International Airport in Palm Beach, Florida,” Eric Trump wrote in a statement highlighting the design.

He continued, “There is no person more deserving of this incredible honor than @realDonaldTrump! Congratulations Dad!”

The new Donald J. Trump International Airport’s history dates to 1936, according to the website, and was first known as “Morrison Field,” an homage to Grace K. Morrison, a female aviator who played a key role in originally planning the airport.

Amid a tumultuous history marked by the coming and going of international wars, the airport’s 2,000 acres were transferred to Palm Beach County in 1960, and has included many expansion plans over the years.
